What is MaterialCalc?

MaterialCalc is an online platform with 35+ construction material calculators for renovation and building projects. It covers tiles, paint, concrete, decking, drywall, insulation, roofing, fencing, flooring and more. Every calculator shows the formula, a worked example and a FAQ so you can verify the result yourself.

All calculators are accessible without an account. Creating a free account lets you save one project and try the workspace.

MaterialCalc Pro unlocks the full platform: unlimited projects, PDF material list export, cloud storage so your work is available on any device, and priority access to new features as they ship.

How estimates are calculated

Quantities are based on standard industry formulas, published product coverage rates and typical waste factors. Waste allowances (usually 5–15%) are added automatically and shown transparently in the worked example. Costs use editable example rates — you can substitute your own prices to get a project-specific estimate.

Units and standards

All calculators support both metric (m², kg, mm) and imperial (ft², lb, in) units. Timber and board sizes follow either EU/UK or US/Canadian standards depending on your settings.
